well... its been QUITE a long time since i posted anything up on this old blog of mine! i was looking at my mom's blog and happened to see that my last post was over a year ago! i decided that i had to delete this pathetic excuse of a blog, but when i went to go do just that, i was distracted by my old posts. i guess i felt a wee bit sad about erasing one of my precious internet spaces, so for now, i'm here to stay!
my dad is freaking out on me about facebooking on sunday. however, i am not on facebook, as my account is unavailable at the moment. this seems to be happening more and more often. DARN YOU FACEBOOK!! how am i supposed to know if that hottie in my cisco class wrote me back if you NEVER OPEN!!??!!
well anyways, i suppose there's a little bit of updating that needs to be done. i'm a junior this year at james river high school and i LOVE it. i never really expected that to happen.. i havent LOVED school since middle school.. but i guess its grown on me. we have a block schedule, which means we have first period everyday for about 40 minutes, then three different classes every other day for about 75 minutes. on even days, i have spanish IV, trig/precalc, ap english, and ap us history. its a day of DEATH, let me tell you. spanish is not as bad as its been, but still pretty hard. i obviously was not blessed with the gift of tongues, but i'm doing pretty good! ;) after first period, we have a 35 minutes to ourselves. its called AEP, or acedemic enrichment period, and its REALLY helpful. i can go see any of my teachers for help during this time, or stay in first period and study or just relax. a lot of times i end up playing life with my friend on his iPod touch, but we play it in spanish, so there is a little bit of brain activity going on! i also have an hour lunch, which is AMAZING! several of my teacher have complained about us having 90 minutes to ourselves a day while they only get 75 to teach us, but i'm pretty happy!
on odd days this year, i do something a little bit different. last spring i was... well to put it plainly, i was OBSESSED with a guy who took this computer class at our local technical center. he suggested i take it, and i dropped all my plans for the next year and ran to sign up. needless to say, by the time school started this year, we were no longer speaking, he had a girlfriend, and i was stuck in this completely useless cisco class (cisco is the computer company that sponsors the class; technically, its the Cisco Academy. no one really calls it that though). i walked into that class PETRIFIED, but i've actually grown to really LOVE it. i'm one of three girls in that class, but i've gotten really close with one of them. there's several cute guys, which doesn't hurt, but i think the thing i love the most is that they're all some of the sweetest and nicest guys i've ever talked to, and i feel so blessed to get to spend every other day out of the drama and peer pressure of a normal high school. its really nice to be able to make friends with people from all over the county.
to do the tech center, i leave inbetween my first period and AEP and ride a bus for 30 minutes to the actual center. a girl who i used to know from church before she stopped going rides the bus with me, and we've grown quite close on the hour round trip. her names allyssa, and she's doing the tech center for cosmetology. i've loved getting to know her even better.
well there's a review of my schedule so far. this weekend has been quite nice to just lay around and relax. on friday, i hung out with my friend danielle. she's a senior i met at church, and she can DRIVE! she picked me up and took me back to her house, where we watched some "tivo"ed episodes of Supernatural and the Vampire Diaries. very good shows, but they have rather complicated plot lines, so i wont waste time trying to describe them to you when you, quite frankly, probably dont care. however, on the topic of tv shows, if you're looking for a new one to watch, i've developed a rather soft spot for Glee. its only one its fifth episode, so there's still plenty of time for you to catch up. little content warning: there's so drug and sexual references, but hey. its high school!
anyways, yesterday i watched general conference with the fam, and then hung out with danielle again. we got a Haunting in Connecticut from Redbox (which is one of the greatest inventions ever if i may say so myself!) and watched that. it was rather scary, i'm not going to lie. one of the better scary movies of the last few years, and its based on a true story. its quite good.
well, i should probably go. we're about to have a family phase 10 tournament, and then i have some more general conference. hopefully i'll be able to keep up with some more regular posts, but if not, feel free to check out my facebook! (i can assure you i'm on THAT every day haha) bye for now! --sg
